I wanted to be fine
I tried to be alright
I said I was ok
But I never was.

My body was tired
My soul was weary
My heart ached
My eyes stung with tears

The battle was silent
I struggled so hard
To fight the intruders
But my soul got tired.

The intruders never ceased to fight me
They were erratic
I felt I’d go crazy.

The little enemies smiled
As they drained out the last bits
Of the strength left in me.

I was shattered
But everyone was indifferent.
For the grass always seemed green
But the roots were burning.
